HERE’S THE SCOOP ON GIRLS IN THE GARAGE!

Girls in the Garage is a FREE event dedicated to helping women learn the basics of car maintenance while having fun—lots and lots of fun for the whole family! What started as a hopeful experiment has blossomed into full-scale production, finely-tuned and ready to go the first Wednesday of every quarter. To date, more than 8,500 women have attended, and we invite you and your group to participate. You, too, can be a very capable Girl in the Garage! Give us a call for more info.

HOW GIRLS IN THE GARAGE GOT ITS START

The idea for Girls in the Garage was brought to our owner, Kevin Hurley, by Cheryl Carrera, a local Mission Viejo realtor. She approached Kevin and simply asked if our team would be willing to teach about eight of her clients, all women, about routine vehicle maintenance, such as checking fluid levels and tire pressure.

From there, the idea took flight, but because we had never hosted an event like this before, we were skeptical about how successful it was really going to be. Even with months of preparation and advertising, when the big day came we didn’t know what to expect.

Well, it turns out we had nothing to worry about. The girls kept pouring into the garage! We ended up having 83 women on that first night. During the evening, over $2,000 worth of donated gifts were raffled off, including brand new Oakley sunglasses, jumper cables, mace, car accessories, and even a large, beautiful bouquet of flowers. Everyone left with a goodie bag and a great sense of accomplishment. The event was deemed a huge success by all who attended and even the local newspapers.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU COME TO GIRLS IN THE GARAGE

For every Girls in the Garage event we set up 12 hands-on car stations where you perform routine vehicle checks with instruction from a Mission Viejo Transmission team member. When you perform the check successfully, you’ll be given a bracelet or necklace to then proceed to the next station. The bracelets and necklaces keep track of which stations you’ve visited, and what you have left to do… It could be anything from opening the hood to checking oil and tire pressure to changing a tire.

While you’re here, you’ll be surrounded by amazing food, beverages, and cocktails, too! All events ae catered by Chicago Dan, and we have a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system, which beautifully illuminates our 4-coat epoxy floors. Yes, it changes colors!

A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE DONATED, SUPPORTED, AND JOINED US IN MAKING GIRLS IN THE GARAGE WHAT IT IS TODAY!
